JEWELLERY AND
JEWELRY DESING PROGRAM
The program began operating in the 2005/2006 fall semester
at Dursunbey Vocational School. The amethyst stone, mined in the village of
Gügü in Dursunbey, was a key factor in establishing the program. The program
offers theoretical and practical training in three main branches: design,
gemstone processing, and jewelry making. The program covers the design of new
products using all forms and figures from past to present, in line with the
fundamental principles of jewelry design; the identification and naming of
precious and semi-precious gemstones in raw or processed form; their
identification and extraction in the field; their processing and production
using various methods; the introduction and use of materials for
jewelry-related handicrafts; knowledge of the jewelry profession; and the
production of jewelry using precious metals. Those wishing to study in the
Jewelry and Jewelry Design Program must possess a love for art, a strong
creative streak, originality, leadership skills, self-confidence, an aptitude
for individual and teamwork, and active interpersonal skills.
The quarrying and processing of amethyst, found near the
village of Güğü in the Dursunbey district, will be further accelerated with the
Jewelry and Jewelry Design Program. Aesthetically crafted amethyst and other
jewelry stones will reach the Turkish market and, through our national
companies, even international markets, making a significant contribution to our
country.
The program includes three
workshops:
Jewelry Workshop
Jewelry Design Workshop
Gem Stone Processing Workshop
